IO Modules - Sensors - Configuring NTC 10k type 2 temperature sensor in Celsius
Introduction
Configuring an NTC 10k Type 2 temperature sensor in Celsius for the iSMA contollers can be challenging at first sight because the specific sensor type is not directly available in the built-in options. However, a similar characteristic, NTC10K3A1, can be used effectively. This guide explains how to do this.
Best Practice
For the NTC 10k Type 2 sensor you use the NTC10K3A1 characteristic. Despite the slight differences in resistance values between the NTC 10k Type 2 sensor and the NTC10K3A1 characteristic, these differences are minimal and will not significantly impact the accuracy of temperature readings.
Always cross-check the characteristics of your NTC 10k Type 2 sensor against the NTC10K3A1 characteristic to ensure compatibility. For the commonly used temperature ranges in building automation (5 - 85 degrees Celsius), the NTC10K3A1 characteristic will provide accurate readings. You see the comparison table below.

If you still don’t want to use the NTC10K3A1 characteristic there is no built-in custom table possibility yet. However alternativelly you can set the input to Resistance mode to read the plain resistance and then use Curve4P or Curve10P components to convert Ohms to Celsius.
By following these steps, you can successfully configure an NTC 10k Type 2 temperature sensor in Celsius. Always verify the sensor characteristics to ensure accurate temperature readings.
